Back to the herd

It's time for my morning walk with Bizou. It is just in between rainshowers. Reindeers are grazing near the lighthouse. They see us, wondering if we are safe or not. Not apparently, for they break out in a run, alongside the road. So we more or less go in the same direction. Strange, I would expect them to run AWAY from us. But no, they even decide to cross the road 10 meters in front of us. One big reindeer stays in the middle of the road, checking us out again. I keep on walking and he just stands there. Exciting! Then it’s all too much for Bizou and she starts to bark. That is too much for the reindeer as well ! And he bolts away, back to where he came from. Now there is a dilemma. A small group managed to get to the other side of the road, but the largest part of the flock is still where it was. And I and Bizou are in the middle. We hurry to get out of the way and I feel more than see that behind me, the stray group is hurrying back to the main herd. One animal stands still and checks out if all is safe, the rest is happily received by the herd. All is well and they start grazing again. Everybody is safely home....

Home is also the title of my new blog. For I will also soon go back home to the Netherlands and join my flock, my tribe there. How I feel about that and other things, you can read in 'Home'.....

With love from the lighthouse,
